Asian Ecotourism Network Announces Leadership Transition and Appointment of New Chairperson

Bangkok, 01 February 2026, The Asian Ecotourism Network (AEN) is pleased to announce a significant leadership transition with the appointment of Mr. Ary Sendjaja Suhandi as a Chairperson, effective immediately. Mr. Ary Sendjaja Suhandi succeeds Mr. Masaru Takayama whose distinguished service and steadfast commitment have been instrumental in advancing AEN’s mission and expanding its positive impact across the ecotourism community since the establishment in 2015.


AEN extends its deepest gratitude to Mr. Masaru Takayama for a decade of dedicated commitment and exemplary leadership. Over the past ten years, his vision, integrity, and unwavering commitment have significantly strengthened the organization, fostered regional collaboration, and advanced ecotourism practices that support biodiversity conservation, environmental, and community well-being.


In recognition of his exceptional contributions and enduring dedication to the organization’s vision, Mr. Masaru Takayama will transition into the role of AEN Advisory Committee Member. Under this capacity, he will continue to provide strategic direction and valuable insight, supporting AEN’s leadership as the organization builds upon its strong foundation and pursues its long-term goals.


The appointment of Mr. Ary Sendjaja Suhandi marks an important milestone for AEN. With his leadership, the Network is well positioned to further elevate its role as a champion of ecotourism, biodiversity conservation, and inclusive community development throughout Asia and beyond.


AEN remains firmly committed to promoting authentic ecotourism, strengthening partnerships, and empowering local communities while safeguarding natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
